Stand By Your Man

According to the internet, The city of NY spends more money funding art programs than the National Endowment of the Arts.

Today we were standing in line at Madison Square Park to get some food at the famous "Shake Shack". All of a sudden, I noticed this figure of a man perched atop a building. Then the line moved in another direction and peaking thru the trees we saw another one. Well of course, that got us curious, and we began to look for more men. Sure enough, they were surrounding us on all sides!
Turns out, this is an art installation made up of 35 "men" on top of buildings and 2 on the ground. This is the US premier of the art, having first been installed in London. The artist (Antony Gormley) says the sculptures are NOT statues and he said this about the work...Isolated against the sky these dark figures look out into space at large asking: Where does the human project fit in the scheme of things? I hope one of these "men" lets me know the minute he figures it out!!
